Power BI Service (App.powerbi.com) - Image displacement in Windows vs. Mac

Hello everyone,

I am running into a weird issue when i run a report in power bi service. There is an image that i added to the report and the image postion and report looks good in a windows machine (Chrome browser). But, in a macbook, the same image gets displaced when i view the report using Chrome. Anyone encountered this before? Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks,

Naizam

Hi there

I think it might be to do with the way the screen and or browser is being viewed on a Mac?

Yes @GilbertQ. I think it is the resolution. But is there a way to avoid this?

Hi there

Currently I am not aware of any way to avoid this. I can only think of maybe changing the JPEG or PNG and see if that works?

Hello,

Unfortunately that is not working. seems like a bug to me.

Thanks,
Naizam

Hi @ Naizam,

Can you include screenshots to see how different the placement is?

In the meantime, you could try using paginated reports

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports/paginated-reports-report-builder-power-b...

or try using the Formatting options available in service. select the visual, open formatting, put exact placement coordinates.

Hi @naizam

I just thought of something else.  Have you tried adjusting the View options?

Hi @mihart,

Yes, i tried all the view options already and nothing seems to work. i can see the exact placement co-ordinates in windows and mac and still it is displaced

@naizam, Can you send me screenshots?

@mihart sure. The virus icon should be exactly in between C and V.

And i mispoke on the cor-ordinates. It looks different in Mac. I tried adjusting in Mac and saving it there, but then it messes up in Windows. Sorry about that

Hi there,

Are these 2 seperate images?

What if you make it into a single image?

I am sorry, i am not sure what you meant. This is an image on top of a text box. Just added a space between C and V and placed the image in between.
Since you asked, may be i should try grouping both of these objects. I will update here after that

Yes I think that the grouping might help

Please let us know.

Unfortunately, that seems to be a dead end as well. No Luck yet.

Any other tips or suggestions? I am planning to log this as a bug

Hi @naizam

OK.  Text box and image. Yes, I suggest that you submit a bug.  But in the meantime, why not make it into an image?  So not a textbox + image but just one image?  Not best solution, but it won't hold you up from publishing?  You could even create it from the report where it works properly -- do a screenshot, save, insert it in place of the textbox.

Sorry we couldn't completely solve this one for you.

Take care,

Michele

Thanks @mihart. I will give that a try.

Do you know how i can convert this post to Ideas/bug section?

Thanks,
Naizam
