Good day!
We have created a Power BI Report which uses Odata connectivity to talk to Dynamics 365 Supply Chain (previously was part of Finance and Operations).
The problem starts after we publish the report to Power BI Service. Since this report's requirement is that we will need to put it on a big tv display in the production floor and we want to show how the machines and workers are tracking the activites in a LIVE manner.
The current limitation is that the standard refresh schedule is daily. I know that with power bi pro license we can set upto 8 stanard refreshes and with premium we can setup to 48 refreshes but premium is too costly. I also know about Direct Query, but i want to know is there any other way or workaround or tips and tricks so that with the existing OData connection i can still get the report refreshed every 5-10 mins.
Any idea or anyone has done similar thing without using premium license?
Cheers.
Dilip

HI @DN27,
I don't think 5 minutes of refresh frequency is possible on general connection modes.
Perhaps you can try to create a streaming dataset that refreshes every time or try to use direct query mode.(it refresh every time you interact with its data)

Hi @DN27,
AFAIK, current OData connector not support live mode. Perhaps you can design a custom connector with live mode code to enable direct query mode on it.

Hi Xiaoxin
Can you confirm if we can use Direct Query with Azure SQL DB or Data Lake and will it allow me to refresh my dataset in real-time meaning can i keep a schedule of min every 5 mins interval refresh rate?

Dilip

Hi
Finally we went LIVE using Direct Query Option and auto page refresh in Power BI Desktop mode which is a workaround as we cannot invest in buying Power BI Premium license which offcourse is a "Premium" cost as the name suggests.
Thanks for all your help
