All,
Got SQL server 2016 installed on an on-prem server (dev server). Would like to use PBI reports and deliver them through SSRS. I understand one of the pre-requisits is to complete the Power BI Integration setup steps within the SQL Sever 2016 Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
Can anyone please tell me how I can complete this registration without registering my account on Azure AD? I can only use on-prem, local, integration points. Cloud/Azure is out of question.
Additional two servers I will be installing will not have Internet connection. That will be completely disabled.
Thank you!
Hi @mapko,
Current power bi can direct deploy the report to ssrs without any Azure AD. For detail information, you can refer to below link:
Power BI reports in Reporting Services
Notice: currently this feature only support "SSAS" datasource.

Hi @v-shex-msft,
Thank you for your response. I read through that article but still not working for me. There are two SSRS installations available to me; 1) included on the server during the overall server setup; and 2) standalone from Jan technical preview. Which installation should I use?
Also, when I upload a PBIX file I cannot open it in a web browser, rahter, it gets downloaded onto my local computer. Do I have to register Power BI in SQL Sever 2016 Reporting Services Configuration Manager?
Thanks!
Hi @mapko,
Q1 : You need to use the preview version to operate this report.
Q2 : Yes, you should register power bi in Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
