Power BI Pro security concern

This is the issue we are trying to resolve:

Power BI Pro license allows a user to publish Power BI content to our Cloud tenant.  Does It also allows the user to publish the same content to any tenant for which they possess a login,

if Yes, we would like to do the following:

Restrict which tenant our Power BI Pro users can publish to.

Log all Power BI publishing activity to ALL tenants.

How can we accomplish this?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous ,

As I know we cannot publish your content across different tenants using one account.

You can come up a new idea about that and add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.

May be this can help someone else, my reponse to the security concern:

A user (Power BI Pro User) can publish power BI content to the cloud (Power BI Service) through power BI desktop.

Let say a user works for two companies at the same time and both companies uses Power BI. The user will technically have power BI access from both companies.

However, when the user is logged in with say, company A’s credentials, he is limited to operate within the domain of company A, meaning that the user can only publish company A contents to company A Cloud.

If the user is on Company A’s Cloud, he cannot share contents with company B except Company B is integrated to company A through company A’s active Directory which will be set up by o365 Admin.

There are two ways to share content with external users:

  • Publish to web, which can be disabled by Admin
  • Send content link by email, this activity can be monitor as well.
