Power BI Premium and direct query

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions regarding direct query reports in Power BI Premium:

1.) In this documentation, there is a limit of Direct Query / Live connections (per second) stated for each type of Premium capacity (e.g. 60 for PC).
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-premium-what-is#reserved-capacities

What exactly does that mean? Is it the number of concurrent users using a direct query connection to any database?
Or the number of querys towards the database? Each visual can generate several queries, so that one report could easily reach that margin.

2.) In the admin settings of Power BI Premium Capacity, you can specify a timeout margin, which defaults to 3.600 seconds - this is also our setting. However, we have experience that most queries time out at 225 seconds.
Does anyone know where this value can be configured, or what is the reason for this specific value?

Hi @IMett ,

Here are the answers to the two questions you asked:
1. The P2 corresponds to 60 which mentioned in the document is the number of DirectQuery and Live Connection connections per second

Capacity nodes
2.There are several limitations when use DirectQuery/LiveConnect mode. Such as a one-million-row limit for returning data and a 225 seconds response time limit for running queries. You can find the details in the following official documentations.

Important considerations when using DirectQuery

Hi @v-yiruan-msft , thanks for your reply.
The 2nd question is solved so far, thank you for the helpful documentation link.

For the 1st question, I still do not really understand what exactly a connection is in this context...
