Power BI Gateway refresh failure

Hi Team,

With Power BI Desktop I prepared a report which is accessing the data from Oracle database. In Power BI Desktop the refresh is working fine (sync is working). Now I published this report to Power BI Online. Here the sync of this dataset isn't working (sync is running via a data gateway). Here the error message is pointed to a particular table but the table doesn't have any issues as I am able to query in the DB Client and in the Power BI Desktop.

Note:

Both Power BI Desktop and Gateway are updated with the latest version. The issue remains the same prior to the updates.

Error:

{"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Client_AsyncOperationStreamingRetriesExhausted","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Client_AsyncOperationStreamingRetriesExhausted","parameters":{},"details":[],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: RESOURCE_CERTIFICATION.

Can you please help me on this.

Thanks in advance,

Soumya Vinod.

Hi @Anonymous

1. Kindly check the document for trouble-shooting: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-onprem-tshoot

2. Please find if there is any detailed information in gateway logs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-tshoot#troubleshooting-too...

3. You can check your local gateway log or use fiddler to trace the operation logs.

4. Fiddler is a free tool from Telerik that monitors HTTP traffic.  You can see the back and forth with the Power BI service from the client machine. This may show errors and other related information.

Setup Logs

If the Personal Gateway, fails to install, you will see a link to show the setup log. This could show you details about the failure. These are Windows Install logs, or also knows as MSI logs. They can be fairly complex and hard to read. Typically the resulting error will be at the bottom, but determining the cause of the error is not trivial. It could be a result of errors in a different log, or be a result of an error higher up in the log.

Alternatively, you can go to your Temp folder (%temp%) and look for files that start with Power_BI_.

Note:

Going to %temp% may take you to a subfolder of temp.  The Power_BI_ files will be in the root of the temp directory.  You may need to go up a level or two.

@Anonymous Verify that the user applied to the data source on the gateway has the appropriate permissions. Another thing to check is that the gateway iteself can connect to the datasource.

You are using your local machine and creds when using the Desktop. After deploying, you use the above mentioned areas and those permissions/connections may need to be validated.
