Power BI Free licence, get file from Sharepoint Site, sync, licencing

Hi,

Is this allowed in the licencing conditions? Power BI Free licence.

1) *.pbix file is in Sharepoint Online

2) 2 Power BI Free users add the same file to his/hers workspace via "GET DATA"-->"FROM FILES"-->"FROM SHAREPOINT TEAMS SITE"

3) *.pbix file is then visible in personal workspaces

4) Analyst updates original *.pbix file in Sharepoint online

5) Changes are synced to Power BI free users automatically (since it is from Sharepoint folder, not local file)

BW,

Kaarel.

Hi, @kaarel

Yes, there are no restrictions on licenses when getting data from  pbix files on the sharepoint team site.

You just need to make sure that  URL path is correct and check the group membership  to make sure that user's account has been successfully added as a member of the team site.

Could you please tell me whether your problem has been solved?

If it is,  please accept your reply as Solution to close this thread.

Please read again what I am asking. With the Power BI Free account, please provide me the licencing reference where it specifically says that I can't do this:

Tnx,
Kaarel.

PS! I've already tested it and it works fine with Power BI Free account (without any trials etc activated). Pbix file is in "My Workspace".

Hi @kaarel

The answer is simply no to all questions. Pro license is needed to all sharepoint users

Thanks. Technically it works. Could you give a reference to licencing conditions where this is mentioned.

It works until the trial free license is due.

Hi, the account we tested with didn't have Pro trial account activated. Only Free licence. It worked fine. Please provide specific reference for the licencing conditions. With the new changes, I can even use Data Gateways/On-Prem data source with free licence as long as they are in "my workspace".

There is no Pro trial account, Pro account is already paid account. The trial is for free License.
