I'm using iframes to embed Power BI reports in a webpage using a user-owns-data approach. Why is it that my users have to manually sign in to power BI through the iframe when they're logged into their Microsoft account, which is tied to a Power BI subscription? Is there any way to automatically sign visitors in using their windows credentials, so they don't have to always click "sign in" when they visit the page? It hampers the flow of the webpage to require users to go through both the company login and then a Power BI login.
I'm beginning to think that an app-owns-data approach is the only way to prevent users from manually having to sign in through the reports.
Dear Anonymous, were you able to resolve it? I have a similar issue, iframe with embed report always shows sign-in window. It's annoying for users.
If you are an ISV I would strongly suggest you use App Owns Data approach. The reason for that is that you can generate your own authentication and authorization for the reports. Also, it allows you to leverage Row Level Security more easily. I assume you are using AD for the authentication here?
No, no AD at the moment. I'm thinking perhaps ADFS may allow a single sign in solution without necessitating app owns data.
