Power BI Embedded! Choosing SKU

Hello Community,

We are using Power BI Embedded for the project and are confused about the SKU to choose, read through a lot of blogs on this but we were unable to draw a conclusion.

Need help is understading the SKUs and subtypes based on the user base and data volume.

Thanks in advance!

@RCelur

P or EM is recommend if you want to used it for a long term. Basically, you can say P is better than EM especially when you have large amount of content.

Please check the details: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-premium-what-is

  • P SKUs (P1-P5) for embedding and enterprise features, requiring a monthly or yearly commitment, billed monthly, and includes a license to install Power BI Report Server on-premises.

  • EM SKUs (EM1-EM3) for organizational embedding, requiring a yearly commitment, billed monthly. EM1 and EM2 SKUs are available only through volume licensing plans. You can't purchase them directly.

  • A (A1-A6) SKU family that requires no commitment and is billed hourly for use white labeling Power BI in applications, portals, and websites or as a way to test P or EM capacities.

@RCelur The information you have provided is not making the problem clear to me. Can you please explain with an example.

Appreciate your Kudos.

Hello @amitchandak

We are unable to decide on what type to choose from within the A, EM and P SKUs for licensing. Our primary concern is which one would handle what amount of user base and data volume based on which we would like to make a choice.

Is there a reference as to what type of license would fit for what volume of users.

Hope this helps.
