Hello,
Has anyone been able to perform all these steps below using App (Clientid/Secret):
1) Deploy PBIX dataset to power bi service
2) update dataset parameter
3) Get a list of datasource id from Gateway cluster
4) Bind dataset to specific Gateway ( postman comes back as 'API is not accessible for application' message)
there are 2 datasources with same server name so need to bind to specific gateway by using datasourceid
Steps 1 and 2 are possible using rest api and by using the App. However, steps 3 and 4 requires doesnt succeed.
I have already added all delegate permissions to the App, Added the app as member to an azure group that has been provided Power BI Administrator role.
Is the only alternative is to create a dummy/service account -> provide admin access and then use it for deployments?
Thanks
Rakesh
Hi @RakeshSinghr ,
Have you tried API via below link?
Or powershell?
https://www.sqlshack.com/connect-query-power-bi-azure-using-powershell/
Hi Kelly,
I'm able to get list of all workspaces, datasets, reports etc by invoking rest api method in powershell using Appid, secret.
Even publishing dataset to workspace is working but after publishing bindtogateway is not.
Hi @RakeshSinghr ,
Then check the below link:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/datasets/bindtogateway
Hi - I dont know how that link is going to help in anyway given the issue i described in my original post. I have already tried using that API.
I have now opened a ticket. I'd suggest reading through the post before responding with 'check out this url' thats not helpful to anyone.
