Power BI Dataflows with our DataLake Gen 2

Hello,

we are trying to use Dataflows with our Datalake Gen2 Storage that is populated with Azure Data Factory.

We have several ADF pipelines that generates several files and would like to create Dataflows that connect to our Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2. I'm able to connect using the Datalake Gen2 Storage blob interface but when i try to connect using the Data Lake Gen 2 interface i get the following error:

Hi @silcambro

Based on this document, the data source of Azure Datelake Storage Gen2 is not listed in the supported source list of blank query. If you want to connect the content in ADLS, you can Add a CDM folder to Power BI as a dataflow based on this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-dataflows-add-cdm-folder

Hello thank you so much for the info.

I know about the CDM folders, but my use case it's a bit different. I fill our Azure data lake Gen 2 Storage with Azure Data factory and use powerbi dataflow to share data across our organization, this way i can hide the azure data lake complexity. I can still use the blob storage interface to connect to fullfill this scenario.

If I'm not wrong the use of CDM folders has the advantage of filling the Data lake with Data coming from Power BI DataFlows, so that other application can reuse the Data.

Can you please confirm the following and tell me what do you think about our strategy?

Thanks
