Permissions to share dashboard

I have a report, a dashboard, and a dataset with row-level security.

I want to share the dashboard with another person. I added this person for a role in RLS in the dataset and I shared the dashboard. The person can only see the report, but no the dashboard. The dashboard has tiles only from the report that the person can already see.
Why isn't the dashboard visible? I want this person to only see the data, not edit it.

Hi @nanci ,

I can't reproduce your problem. By my test, it is always show dashbord when I share to others.  Can you share more details?

  1. Which workspace do you use? are there shared users in it?
  2. How do they view the dashboard, with the link  you shared or view it in Shared with me?

For a workaround, you could create a content pack to share with them.

Best Regards,

Xue

Hi there

Could you confirm that you did share it from the Dashboard and possibly you could have shared it from the Report?

I would suggest sharing the details via an App, which has got additional functionality and will still honour the RLS

@GilbertQ  Yes, I shared it from the Dashboard. This is simple, so I don't know why it is not working.

Hi there

When the person clicks on the shared link are they taken to the report or dashboard directly?

To the report.
And I sent them the link to the dashboard, but they are taken to the report.

I would be pretty confident that you then shared the report with the user and not the dashboard

If you open the Dashboard, click on Share and then click on Access do you see the users name in the Access list?

If they are not in the example above, they will not be able to access the dashboard.

Yes, the users are in the list when I click the Access tab in the Share button from the Dashboard.
What can I do now? Should I remove them from the report?

Hi there

Ok good to know, I am not sure what is happening then.

The only thing I can think of is to remove all the share permissions from both the dashboard and report and then share JUST the dashboard?
