Paginated Reports in Power bi service are very slow

Hello, we are using power bi paginated reports with Azure sql database Datasource. When we run report in paginated report builder it's taking 2-4 sec,but the same report taking 15-20 sec in power bi service. Can some one tell what could be the reason for slow loading in power bi service and the solution ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @reportsuser123,

The performance of reports in the power bi service is influenced by many more factors.

In addition to the factors of the REPORT itself.

  • Gateway sizing

A gateway is required whenever Power BI must access data that isn't accessible directly over the Internet.

  • Network latency

Network latency can impact report performance by increasing the time required for requests to reach the Power BI service, and for responses to be delivered. Tenants in Power BI are assigned to a specific region.

  • Power BI paginated reports

Ensure your capacity has sufficient memory allocated to the paginated reports workload.

  • Capacity settings

When using capacities—available with Power BI Premium (P SKUs), Premum Per User (PPU) licenses, or Power BI Embedded (A SKUs, A4-A6)—you can manage capacity settings.

You can optimize the Power BI environment by configuring capacity settings, sizing data gateways, and reducing network latency.
