Paginated Reports and Premium Capacity Data Storage using LiveConnect

Hi all,

Can someone confirm if running Paginated Reports using a live on-premises SSAS datasource, keeps data on cloud?

Where does the paginated report performs caching and temporary storage?

Regards,

LS

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

Can you provide more details on the management of this temporary data storage?

Is it stored encrypted?

Is it stored only during report execution?

What is the TTL of the cache being stored?

Is this configurable somehow?

This might invalidate a possible usage of Premium capacity.

@djpirra - Short answer, it is far more secure than anything on-premises. Long answer - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/guidance/whitepaper-powerbi-security

Also, see Microsoft's Trust Center regarding security certifications.

Hi Greg,

Thank you so much for that Whitepaper link.

Unfortunately it does not mention paginated reports in detail but it was indeed very helpful in other aspects.

Hi @djpirra,

I check the paginated report related documents but not found they mention where the cached file stored. If they also processed as same as power bi service datasets, it probably stored at azure blob data storage.

In addition, you can also consider contact to power bi team to get further support fro this scenario.

I would add that currently Paginated reports will possibly only store cached data and there is not much of this data stored.

Otherwise when you see the data is the only time it is stored in the report you are viewing.

And as mentioned above it is very secure and it is encrypted at every stage, even in your browser.

Hi Gilbert,

My question is exactly that. As far as I know the paginated reports will have to cache/temporary store the retrieved data. We will have reports with some considerable amount of data and that will have to be stored somewhere...

Went throught the security whitepaper but it does seem to refer to paginated reports in particular.

Thank you for all your clarifications.
