OneDrive PBIX file refresh - Failed after updating dataset

Hi all,

I had a power BI report configured to update a report via a PBIX file in a OneDrive folder.  It was working fine until I decided to update the file via the following steps:

1. Took a copy of the file down to my local PC

2. Added a new datasource to the underlying model

3. Replaced the file in OneDrive with my new file

After I replaced the file, the report now fails to update the file.  Is it not possible to replace the file (with the same name) or is it the change to the underlying model that caused this failure?

The specific error message is:

"We are unable to locate the file on OneDrive for Business. Please check that the file exists in this location."

Hi @JeremyB ,

Please try to open the pbix file from OneDrive and publish to service to replace the existing report.

Best Regards,

Xue Ding

Is there a way to tell what happened?  My guess is that it was either caused by replacing the file or adding a new datasource and dimensions/facts.

One main purpose of implementing the report this way was to make it easier to maintain and publish report changes.  If this is a continuing issue, this becomes much less of a viable option that I can recommend to my teams.
