Hi,
First of all thank you in advanced to assess my problem:
We have an oracle database installed in a server X that stores all the data we want to consume. For architecture restrictions, the On Premises Gateway is installed in server Y and cannot be installed in server X. Also, both servers belong to the same network.
We are trying to add the oracle datasource in Power BI Service and it returns the following error:
What dou you think that might be happening? Can we add a datasource in an On Premises Gateway in one server whereas the real data remains in another server?
Thank you very much,
You may also find the following useful, if you haven't seen this already, regarding Oracle data sources: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-onprem-manage-oracle
Good luck,
Hi @Anonymous
There are several possible causes for the error ORA-12170.
Make sure
1. You have the network connectivity from the Gateway server to the Oracle server
2. You have the right Oracle DB drivers installed on the Gateway server to support the connection
3. You don't have problems with the firewall
4. Your dataabse or listener is not down
