Old Data shown everytime you enter the report. Updates when you refresh but reverts when you leave

All of a sudden, some of my reports show data from a date in November, until I hit the refresh button, then it shows the latest data.

If I leave the report and get back into it, it shows the data from November again.

it's only happening to some reports, with all reports using their own SSAS Model which is automatically refreshed based on a schedule. This has never been an issue in the past and has only started to happen recenetly. The latest data is obviously there, but the report doesn't show it until the refresh button is hit within the report.

Picture showing refresh time stamp when viewing report and then refresh time stamp after hitting refresh, proving the latest data is there but just not being shown by default until manually refreshed. Using Microsoft Edge but tested in Chrome with the same issue.

Is this a bug?

Hi @v-robertq-msft

Thanks for the reply. It's set up as live connection.

I tried the above but to no avail but did end up getting it resolved. After downloading the latest pbix from the Workspace, I deleted the report and dataset within the Workspace (I did not delete the gateway) and then republished the report to the Workspace from the downlaoded pbix file using PowerBI desktop.

Note that downloading and republishing the report while the report and dataset still resided within the Workspace did not fix the issue. The report and dataset must be deleted first.

Out of the ~20 reports, only 2 of them had this issue so i'm not sure why it was happening. All reports are now updating again without needing to manually hit the refresh button within the report.

Hi, @Erik_Debono

What’s your connection mode to SSAS? Live connection or import?

If you are using a Live connection, I think the problem is related to the cache of Power BI. You can try to upload the report again to replace the original report in your workspace and configure the gateway and credential. And press on “Ctrl”+” Delete” to clear the browser cache. Then check if the refresh timestamp is up to date

If you are using import mode, you can go to the refresh history to check if the latest refresh is successful, like this:
