OAuth2 authentication failed when adding Azure SQL Database to gateway

When adding Azure SQL Database to the gateway using OAuth2 authentication, it failed with the following message.

Screen Shot 2020-12-10 at 2.29.16 PM.png

I tried 2 different accounts:

  1. xxx@company.com
  2. Azure Security Group

Both of them are in AAD and added to the `db_datareader` role in SQL Database. Both can access the data in Power BI Desktop.

Any insights and/or solutions are very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous,

What type of data source are you work? Azure SQL or SQL server that hosts in an azure VM?
If you mean the second one, you need to double-check your gateway client to ensure it can be accessed to that VM and data source. (according to the error message, it shows the '400' error which means the request/access invalid)
