When sign in the gateway, you need to sign in with either a work account or a school account. This account is an organization account. If you signed up for an Office 365 offering and didn't supply your work email address, your address might look like nancy@contoso.onmicrosoft.com. Your account is stored within a tenant in Azure AD. In most cases, your Azure AD account’s User Principal Name (UPN) will match the email address.
What's more, there are some limitations for the types of Power BI email address account:
- Power BI requires that you use a work or school email address to sign up. You can't sign up using email addresses provided by consumer email services or telecommunication providers. This includes outlook.com, hotmail.com, gmail.com, and others.
- After you sign up, you can invite guest users to see your Power BI content with any email address, including personal accounts.
- You can sign-up for Power BI with .gov or .mil addresses, but this requires a different process. For more info, see Enroll your US Government organization in the Power BI service.
If you switch your account in Power BI Service, you may need to switch the account of gateway accordingly . If your actual work email address account don't meet the account limitations above, the gateway won't work.
