Not able to connect to Salesforce report through OKTA authentication

Hi All,

I am trying to access the report from Salesforce. It requires me to log in to the Organizational salesforce account and I am unable to view the page where I need to provide the security code from the Symantec VIP application.

PS: I am able to connect to Salesforce using the same steps on the older POWER BI install (March 2018) but not on the latest application.

Below are the steps which I am performing on the latest version of POWER BI.

Step:1

Step:2

Step: 3

Step: 4

Step: 5

Ideally, the last Step 5, should take me to the Symantec VIP page where it should ask for the security code which is randomly generated from the application every 30 seconds.

What I can do to successfully log in and view the reports from Salesforce?

Hi, @Anonymous

By default, Salesforce does not support Internet Explorer 11, which is used as part of the authentication experience to online services in Power Query Desktop. Please opt-in for extended support for accessing Lightning Experience Using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11

Reference: Connect to Salesforce with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Power Query Salesforce Objects connector | Microsoft Docs

If it doesn’t solve your problem, please feel free to ask me.

Best Regards

Hit F5 a couple times on that last screen.  If that doesn't help then contact your company's security IT team and discuss with them which of their tools or processes might be interfering with this.

NOTE:  Power BI still uses the IE browser engine but is about to switch to the Chromium based EDGE engine soon. So this whole circus has a high chance of repeating itself.

Hi Ibendilin,

When I hit the F5/Refresh it takes me to the 404 error page. I guess the session of OKTA authentication ends on Refresh.

I installed the March 2018 version that has the ability to connect to POWER BI and then upgrade that version to the latest version. Still, I am not able to find any standard solution to the problem.
