Not able to Export data in Publish to Web

Hello,

My report users have observed that the Export Data option (...) is missing from Publish to Web.

I have been reading several threads related to this topic but I saw different options on this issue - some people said they are able to export data from Publish to Web some are not...I am not sure if this function can be turned on by our organization admin or this is how Power BI designed.

Please advise. Thanks a lot!

Vivian

Hi @VivianX,

Not very clear what your "Publish to Web" mean.

If you mean Publish to Web which you will create the embed code, as I know, it doesn't have the feature for Export Data.

If you mean the report you published to Power BI Service, it have the feature Export Data like below.

If your user cannot see this option, you'd better contact with the admin account and let them have a check if they have enabled this option under tenant settings.

Hi @VivianX,

Yes, when I said "Publish to Web ", I did mean "embeded code", the public URL I was referrring to.

However, I have one more question, what do you mean "If you mean the report you published to Power BI Service"? Do you mean I publish the report to my organization reporting server?

If you mean "Publish to Web", it seems that we may not have this feature to Export data.

You could vote this similar idea in Power BI ideas Forum and add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.

"The report you published to Power BI Service" means that you publish the report from Power BI Desktop to Power BI Service.

In addition, Publish to web is not very safe. When you use Publish to web, the report or visual you publish can be viewed by anyone on the Internet. There is no authentication used when viewing these reports.

To the best of my knowledge, that is not a feature in Publish to Web reports.
