No refreshment on date orders

Hi guys,

I reckon it's rather a simple question but I cannot fix it:

Month order on my x-axis works properly (Jan-Feb-....Dec)

But after publishing the report, when I open it on Power Bi service, the months get disordered (May-Mar-....Dec)

Everything else looks perfect as it is on Power Bi desktop.

Have no clue how come!

Hi @Alirezam

The sort order keeps in Power BI Service on my side.

My method is as below:

1. This is my date table

   Create column here

month = MONTH([Date])

month name = FORMAT([Date],"mmm")

4.png

2. Select "sort by month name"

3.png

3. Click on "month name" column, then select "sort by column"->"month".

Best Regards
Maggie

Hi @Alirezam ,

How is the X-axis sorted in Desktop?

I mean, Is it sorted using a Month No. column or you haven't sorted it explicitly, but it is automatically ordered based on Month Names?

Hi

The x-axis is the only Month and it is coming from a table named Calendar which I sorted based on Month Name. So it starts normally from Jan.

Hi @Alirezam ,

As @v-juanli-msft  shown in the screenshots, if you are building months from dates and sorting it by month, the sorting should hold in Power BI Service as well.

Instead if your Month Names are directly from your source, I would recommend adding a column to the Month No and have your Month Name column sorted based on it. This should keep your month names sorted from Service as well
