New OLAP Server Access via PBI App but not Browser

Hello,

I have been searching for a fix for about a week.

In process of upgrading Server

  • Old Server:
    • Windows Server 2012
    • SQL Server 2016 R2
  • New Server:
    • Windows Server 2019
    • SQL Server 2019

Situation is PowerBI connects to Old Analysis Services; both Desktop App and Browser perfect.

However new server connection to OLAP only woks with PowerBI App or Excel.

When I try to connect with browser I get message “This report couldn’t access the data source”.

I am, the author and also the admin.

All server security settings are the same as old server

This is happening with both my gateway and also the gateway the enterprise team uses.

Thank you in advance for your support

Desktop App can see data

I was able to solve the issue.

I requested IT to create a Service Account with

  • Kerberos AES 128 bit encryption and Kerberos AES 256 bit encryption
  •

Update:

I ran SQL Server Profiler and traced activity on SSAS.
Error was “The following system error occurred: The encryption type requested is not supported by the KDC.”
This seems to be related to encryption.

Hello GilbertQ,

Thank you for replying
I had read in other post to use domain account, so I used my account which I am the Adman.
Any other thoughts?

Hi @Terry_IC

It sounds to me like you have not made the domain account an Admin in the SQL Server 2019 connection?

Are you using DirectQuery?
