Nd Help - Limitation Downloading .pbix from Pro Service My Workspace to my desktop?

I edited a report in Power BI Desktop, originally created in Power BI Desktop.  Then published the file to My Workspace.  I made additional edits to the report in Power BI Pro Service, and saved report.

Issues

  • No option to download the .pbix file w/new edits made in Service, My Workspace, to my PowerBI Desktop, or local drive.
  • Not able to share edit rights to the .pbix file with my team member who has Power BI premium.

I read through the limitations.  None appear to impact my situation.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-export-to-pbix#limitations-and-cons...

Has anyone experienced this scenario?

Are there any updates to settings, or other option, that enable the download feature of a .pbix file from My Workspace to my desktop, or edit rights to another team member?

Thank you for your support.

Hi @Anonymous ,

From this article, you can see there is a limitation

  • To download the file, you must have edit access to the report.
  • The report must have been created by using Power BI Desktop and published to the Power BI service, or the .pbix file must have been uploaded to the Power BI service.
  • Reports must be published or updated after November 23, 2016. Reports published earlier aren't downloadable.
  • This feature won't work with reports and content packs originally created in the Power BI service.
  • Always use the latest version of Power BI Desktop when you open downloaded files. Downloaded .pbix files might not open in non-current versions of Power BI Desktop.
  • If your administrator has turned off the ability to download data, this feature won't be visible in the Power BI service.
  • Datasets with incremental refresh can't be downloaded to a .pbix file.

Thanks for your input, Lucien.  I experience the same "Unable to Download PBIX file issues" (outside the scope of limitation factors) on both Workspace and My Workspace.   I'll contact my administrator for help and will post an update.

Hey @Anonymous ,

Along with the limitations outlined by @v-luwang-msft , are you using a Pro license or a trial license?  if you have a trial license that will be a limitation as well.

Hi Collinq,
I am using a Pro license, with "contributor" access permissions.

Thx

Hey @Anonymous ,

Did your administrator have this disabled?
