Moving dataflows from one environment to another environment in PowerBI Service

Hi,

I created a PowerBI dataflow and the dataflow is consumed in many reports. Now, I need to move dataflow from one workspace to another.

Now, when I move dataflow using pipelines, In all the environments it's pointing to the dev environment. How do I point dataflow to the test environment likewise same from test to production?

Thanks,

Bhanu

@Bhanu_VA Seems like you could use parameters or their equivalents.

Hi Bhanu,

I strougled with the same think and the solution I found was to drop the tables from data flow, delete credentials in Data Source Settings / Global Permissions and add the tables all over again.

Hi @vanessafvg ,

My scenario is like this, I have 3 workspaces(Dev, test, prod), and Dataflow is the source of the reports.

Now I need to move dataflow and reports to test workspace using pipelines. same as test to prod workspaces.

Now, when I move Dataflow from dev to test, the source dataflow(test) is still pointing to dev. Even after changing the source of the dataflow to test, the reports are pointing to dev dataflow.

Need help in getting this sorted.

Thanks,

Bhanu

@Greg_Deckler Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean I need to create Parameters in Dataflow itself?

Note:  I had created Dataflow in PowerBI Service, not on the Desktop.

Could you please help me with any documentation or a blog thread?

Thanks,

Bhanu
