Modify Sharing Link to Published Report

Is there a way to modify the sharing link to a report? Typically, when I republish a report, I will replace the old one so the link will remain the same. However, a report viewer was having issues related to one of the latest PBI updates. The solution I found online was to delete the published report and publish again as new, per this post. However, I did not consider the sharing link would change. Is it possible for me to modify the link to match to "old" report?

I found this article that mentions this idea (about mid-way down the page under "Manage permissions to a report" section), but when I follow the vague directions, I am not able to achieve anything. I am not able to type in the link box - the only option is to copy the current link.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi @amconnel  ,

 Agree with @aj1973  .

Also, if the report users are viewers only, you use an app and give your users the app URL. The app URL will not change if reports are added or deleted.

Every new report is published with a unique link, that is because every report should have a unique ID. You can see the ID of the report here

Therefore when you update the report the ID of the report is the same, but when you delete it and republish it again then the report will get a new ID.
