Migrate SSAS Tabular to Power BI Dataset

I have many SSAS Tabular Models that I run on SSAS.

However, many of them are small and would be better suited to live in Power BI service (not premium, just normal).

Is there a way I can take my SSAS Tabular models and save them or copy/paste the model data into Power BI Desktop?

Hi there

It does take a bit of work.

You can copy and paste from the Expression Window in SSAS into Power Query in Power BI Desktop.

You can then use Tabular Editor to copy and paste the measures between your SSAS and Power BI Desktop.

The only thing you would need to create is the relationships.

And then finally re-mapping your existing Power BI reports to use the Power BI shared dataset once published to the Power BI Service?

Hi there

The expressions are in your SSAS Tabular model.

Can you elaborate on this bit
"You can copy and paste from the Expression Window in SSAS into Power Query in Power BI Desktop."

Which expressions are being copied in that step?
