MS teams members become owner of workspace

Hi,

Can someone advise on this scenario please.

If a workspace "WorkSpace KPIs" is created and users are added in MS teams "WorkSpace KPIs".  On the other side developer develops a Power BI report or create an App. When this report/App is deployed on Azure workspace "WorkSpace KPIs" it brings MS teams "WorkSpace KPIs" as owner of that report/App. This means anyone added within that team becomes owner and can change, build or reshare.

Did I understand correctly? or I missed something?

How MS teams member of "WorkSpace KPIs" can only be ReadOnly instead of owner?

What are the best practices in this scenario.

End goal is: not to make MS team members owners for that report/App but only read only is required.

Many thanks

Hi @Anonymous ,

You could configure the permission of your members in the workspace.

Thanks @v-eachen-msft

I do not see that option, Where can i find it.

I am currently going to Azure dataset and manage permission but MS team workspace is shown as owner and no option to change it. Similarly Report share says the same.

Many thanks

Hey @Anonymous ,

create a workspace (in Power BI Service) this is not based on a O365 group, meaning a create V2 workspace:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-create-the-new-workspaces

Add members to the workspace and assign the roles (Admin, Member, or Contributor) accordingly.

Add the O365 group "WorkSpace KPIs", and assign the role Viewer.

Hopefully, this is what you are looking for.

Regards,

Tom
