Looking for some general guidance on Sharing Power BI Datasets across a large organization
We developed a pretty complex dataset using PowerBI Desktop. The "hard work" on building the ETL and Measures and Calculated columns has been done along with some basic reports to help users to then be able to build thier own.
I know that we can publish this PBIX file to a Power BI Service workspace and give users access to the workspace. Here's the challenge...
I want to make this dataset available to multiple teams, but still be able to centrally manage the dataset so that updates to the dataset can easily be propagated out to those that are using it. Each team will more than likely have their own PowerBI Workspace. I don't want anyone to be able to modify the dataset. But we do want and encourage teams to build their own Reports and Dashboards from the dataset. The number of users that will create their reports is too large to publish this to just one Workspace as there is not a good way to "organize" reports and control who can edit which report.
To summarize the challenges:
Any insight or links to videos and or blogs or such that can provide information and insight much appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous ,
1. All the members that in the app workspace can create reports using the dataset if Members can edit the Power bi content.
2. Currently, it is not possible to achieve that, We can only pbulish the report to multi workspace and add members to workspaces accrodingly to work on it. Also there is an idea about that, you can vote it up.
3 &4. It is not possible to meet your requirement currently. You can come up a new idea about that and add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.

Frank
