Looking for best approach to satisfy the usecase

Hello Guys,

Looking for below functionality in our web application.

Here is the list of items which we would like to implement.

  1. We would like to see live data in report
  2. When user login they can see only their data Dynamic RLS applied in report.
  3. Embed the report in Web app
  4. Assigned user role when new user will be added in web app.

So can you please guide which approach is the best in terms of Data in Direct Query for live report, License type should be pro or premium capacity, Embedded approach has App owns data or user owns data...

Thanks

Hi @Ravivarma316 ,

Azure SQL Server only supports the "Import" and "Direct Query" connection models, so I suggest you use the Direct Query connection mode.
You will always get the latest data whenever you view or interact with reports created based on the "Direct Query" mode.

About setting of  RLS, Please refer to the article.

Hi @Ravivarma316 ,

1. You could use "Qirect Query" or "Live Connection" connection mode.

2. Add dynamic RLS to the data model.

3. Use "Embed" to share the report.

4. Add a new user to the role of RLS.

What's your data source? Using "Live connection" is a good choice.

Lionel Chen

@v-lionel-msft

Well Our data source is Azure SQL Server

But as you are suggesting in live connection so I guess we might have to create the Analysis services right?

in that case how much frequentl data will be available?

As we have data update in souce table in 15 mins and we would like to showcase that in report immedietly so can you please suggest for that.

Thanks In Advance
