I had a personal gateway set up and working fine.
Due to issues with a corrupt user profile, my local user profile was recreated.
When I try to reinstall the gateway, I get the following error message:
The gateway installation failed.
The on-premise data gateway (personal mode) installation has failed.
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): The system cannot find the file specified

Any assistance/advice would be welcome.
Thanks for you assistance. I did come across that video on my searching, but since it was 5 years old, a different error and about the "Power BI Analysis Services Connector" I decided it wasn't relevant.
I have looked at it again. The video is related to uninstalling the "Power BI Analysis Services Connector" and not the gateway itself. I have never installed the "Power BI Analysis Services Connector".
Since my error message is relating to something missing, rather than something present/blocking the install, it doesn't quite relate.
There is nothing in the log to do with a "connectorfound". There is no HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataTransfer key in the registry (or anything else in the video).
Between uninstalling and reinstalling I have tried to remove all files/directories relating to the personal gateway, and also attempted to clean out anything remaining in the registry.
The only other post I can find that is relevant was eventually found to be related to a proxy, which is not relevant in my circumstances.
Did you solve your problem? If yes, how?
