Hello folks!
As per the documentation given here. I installed a VM for SQL Server 2016 CTP 3.2 in Azure and later tried connecting the same from iPad. But I could not connect successfully (credentials error). It asks for the following details:
Name your server
Enter server address
Username
Password
Refer image below from Power BI documentation:
Can anybody help me out here what can be the different parameters to pass. What I provided was:
-Server name was I provided was any name. For eg. report_testing
-For server address, my VM server name is of the form servername.cloudapp.net. So I provided servername.cloudapp.net/reports_preview/
- And finally server username and password
But I am not successful. Can anybody help me here.
Note: I am using SQL Server 2016 CTP 3.2 which is in Azure VM
Thanks!
Hi
I have the same issue: "check the address for server" with windows 10 power bi app.
Any help??!
Hello All,
I am also facing same issue in connecting to SSRS 2016 on Azure VM from PowerBI iOS app.
Tried following but none resolved the issue
1. Changes SSRS authentication from NTML to basic
2. Added inbound rules in the fire wall
Can anybody please help me?
Thanks,
Sanjay
Hello everyone,
Anyone can help me understand below error. Am I missing something or providing incorrect details.
With the latest RC of SQL Server 2016, the "reports_preview" URLs went away. It's now just server.com/reports. I discovered this when my connections to SSRS Datasets via Mobile Report Publisher stopped working after an upgrade to the new RC in April 2016. Could that be causing your problems?
@jayeckles I am still struggling with connecting Power BI to SQL Server 2016 from Power BI iPhone App. Rest works fine. If possible can you please let me know what server name, username and password do we need to pass while connecting. I get an error related to invalid server credentials.
Thanks !
add 'http://' before the server name. It should work!
@lushanthan I tried adding http:// but still the same error
'Make sure that you are using SQL 16 Reporting Services Server address'
Any setting required that I am missing from my end ?
Hi,
The address you input for the mobile app should be something like http://ssrs.contoso.com/reports (or https).
Depending on your authentication type and active directory settings, the user name should be either <username>, <domain>\<username> or <username>@<domain>.
If your still seeing this issue, can you please provide us with more info?
1. Which SSRS 2016 version are you using?
2. Are you using http or https? (and if https - is your SSL certificate a self signed certificate?)
3. Did you configure any non-default authentication settings on your SSRS server? (The app currently doesn't support custom authentication such as form)
4. Is your server hosted in your corporate network, or an Azure VM?
Thanks,
-David

Is your server hosted in your corporate network and on Azure VM?
