Issue Publishing from PowerBI Desktop

Dear Members,

I has been succesfully publishing a dataset from PowerBI desktop for last 6 months without issues. (replacing dataset daily)

However today, a new error message was thrown up and the publising was failed.

Cannot change the name of dataset, since there are six dashboard & reports linked to this dataset.

Pls advise how can I resolve the issue.

Hi @Anonymous,

Are you able to upload .pbix file from Power BI service directly?

Please try:

  • Sign Out and Sign In again from PowerBI Desktop and then try to publish
  • Login in Power BI service, lick Get Data box on the lower left hand side and use “Files->Local file” entry to upload your PBIX file to pull/upload your file.

Best regards,
Yuliana Gu

Not OP, but I attempted these steps and still recieved the same error.

Publishing from the service 'get data' option creates a duplicate dataset, this is less than ideal, I believe we simply need to update the current data set with new measures etc.

Getting the same error, opened a ticket with Support.

@twalsh0625

Have you received any updates from your ticket? I am having the same issue since I updated to the latest version of desktop. I am unable to publish any of my month end reports.
