Is it possible to retrieve the .pix of a report published by yourself from server side?

Deleted the only local copy of a .pbix file by mistake. 😞

Is it possible to retrieve the .pix of a report published by yourself from server side? Or any remediation.

Many thanks.

Hi @Jingyi,

With published file after November in new version of PBI desktop, you could go to PBI service and download pbix file.

Hi @Jingyi,

With published file after November in new version of PBI desktop, you could go to PBI service and download pbix file.

Thanks for the response. I saw this feature, but the button is greyed out on that report. Do you happen to know why? Thanks.

Hi @Jingyi,

That means your report has been published with old version of Power BI Desktop, so you need install new version of pbi desktop and publish file again to this feature work. In you case download feature could not help you retrieve pbix file

Yes. Since I lost the orignial file, then not able to make a re-publishment. :'(

Thanks for your assistance.

btw, do you happen to know whether it is retrievable from server side?

Hi @Jingyi,

If the button is greyed out, then it indicates that this report was created before Novmber version of Power BI desktop. Based on my research, there is no other approcah to get the oraginal pbix file. You need to re-create it.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Charlie Liao

Hi @Jingyi,

Pbix file is combination of some structure files, so when you publish they store these scheme in your cloud account( I think so) and with current model, layout in power bi service, they are packed into Pbix file and return to us.
