Some time last September it was announced that there was "Improved multi-value parameters support for DAX" to prevent the problem described by Chris Webb in this blob post. We're using an on-prem SQL Server Analysis Services tabular model and executing some embedded paginated reports against the model, and I'm hitting that very problem where the RSCustomDaxFilter is rendering too large a DAX query. The improvements, according to the author, "changed how we handle this in product and most users should no longer see this error." I deployed our tabular model to AAS, tested it, and sure enough -- it is resolved in the cloud.
Does anyone know whether there are any plans to update the on-prem data gateway and/or SSAS in order for that benefit to apply to us as well?
