Images not showing on Microsoft Edge, but showing in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Images not showing on Microsoft Edge, but showing in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

When you use URL as image, to show icons in Power BI, I'm having a problem specific on Edge, and in some reports:

  • Chrome: Ok, show images and doesn't break the line when the file name starts.
  • Firefox: OK, same thing.
  • Edge: Broken image icon and url separates the site from file.

On Edge, the link shows like this:

http://www.site.com/

file.png

On Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, thi link look like this:

http://www.site.com/file.png

I'm talking about the same report that work in 3 browsers but Edge. And some reports on Edge are OK, others don't, depending on where the files are hosted. And the problem doesn't happen in Power BI Desktop, only when published.

Can anyone look at this on Edge team, because now it looks to me its is an Edge only problem.

I would not like people using Edge to missview my information thinking there is a broken report... neither force people to use specific browsers.

Hi , v-ljerr-msft thanks for putting some effort trying to figure out this issue.

Interesting that this icon shows up on your Edge. Since it works in Chrome, Firefox and IE for me and doesn't work only in Edge, the link is ok, but maybe some configuration on Edge.

Or maybe some network issue or even region issue on Edge, preventing to show the icon on that specific URL. As I mentioned, I have other reports that Edge shows icons fine.

Probably there is something inisde Edge, in my network and in my region thatis causing it. (I'm in Brazil, by the way).

One thing strange though is the line braking between the first part of the URL and the file name.

Well, I hope this sorts out by itself, and now I'm asking my users to use Chrome and Firefox.

Thanks again!

I have also had this problem.  I found that if I link to an https image rather than http, images will work in Edge.

Could you put that into English, please?

Pictures still do not display using Edge.  Every website administrator I've contacted have recommended Chrome, and discouraged using Edge.  As to the problem being solved...it's not.

This GTA San Andreas is the one of the action video game. Rockstar North developed this game and
published by the rockstar games. On 26 th October 2004 this GTA San Andreas game released for
PlayStation 2 and for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox released on 7 th June 2005.

The said issue still exists so far as I punblished my PowerBI report at the following URL:

https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiYWI4MDlkZTUtYjAyZS00NTM1LTkwNjctMjM3ZWFkMTlhNjcyIiwidCI6ImU3M...

It did happen in Microsoft Edge only!

I tested on Chrome and you dashboard works.

On Edge, it doesn't!

Yes, I think Microsot Edge still has something to be solved.

Hi @zapppsr,

I just verified that I can use URL as image on Edge without any issue.

@djnww, I also checked that I can pin Images onto dashboards on IE 11 successfully.

As I can't reproduce the issue on my environment, it seems that the issue may relate to the local configuration on your Microsoft Edge or IE. So I would suggest you also open a ticket on Power BI Support for better assistance on this issue.Smiley Happy

As I mentioned in my post, I also have reports with images showing up on Edge.

Only some specific host URLs (in this case two that I tested) Work on Chrome, Firefox, IE but don't work in Edge.

So, there is something edgy here...

So we still have a problem, if you want to keep your reports all browsers compatible.

Please, try this url: "https://bc.tic.fiescnet.com.br/kb_upload/image/powerbiimages/trv.png"

Hi @zapppsr,

I just tested it with your shared image URL, and it can also be shown up on my Edge.Smiley Happy

Although replying to an old post, I had the issue that pictures were not shown in IE and Edge. Chrome had no problems.

When I changed the base64 text to:

'data;image/jpeg;base64, /9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAlgCWAAD/2wB.....' without quotes

things worked on all browsers.

Before I had the data:@file/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAlgCWAAD/2wB...

Difference is 'image' vs '@file' and the extra space between 'base64,' and '/9j'.

Make ure you use the IMG URL in PowerBI.

Hi @Querymaster , thanks for replying.

In may case, I use public URLs : http://www.site.com/file.jpg

I don't use data;image/jpeg;base64 or data:@file/jpeg;base64

Is there a way to convert the basic URL for this specifics formats?

Thanks again!

This issue just started showing up again after the latest cumulative update (KB4088776).
Edge is just a broken browser and now MS wants us to believe in thier new philosphy
that grouping app and websites together in "Sets" under a tab is a good direction to go.

Why don't they fix what they have and then worry about what we want and need instead of inventing features and then Ramming the upgrade down our throats so that our computers no longer work and we have to buy a new machine just to do what we are getting paid to do.

The 1703 update removed USB and networking from my 3 year old laptop and since Toshiba is bankrupt I can't get up to date drivers that are compliant with the revised security that they snuck in behind our backs. Only solution was to buy a new machine for $2000. I need an operating system that will load my application  program so that I can do work that I get paid for.
I don't need fancy feature and pretty bells and whistles. I have a Android phones and tablets and an iPad I can use for recreational needs.
I have a nice chromebook that plays my netflix just fine. I have a server that saves all my files and has been running continuously for two years without a reboot except for updates with DeBian Linux. #MakeWindowsWork.

Hi @zapppsr,

I concur. Me and my team have not been able to pin any images onto dashboards. They just appear as a blank white space.

Noticed the problem 2 days ago.

We are using IE 11. I am assuming IE & Edge are having issues rendering images.

I wish there was a 'user' where we could tag a Microsoft Service person.

Cheers,

D
