IO error when Accessing Path

Hi,
I transitioned a PowerBI from using a Personal Gateway to an Enterprise Gateway.
All other things being equal, when trying to refresh the data source, it fails with the following error at different times of the connection. I think it is a timeout error or a poor connection but I can't find the error code to be sure.
We got the IO error '71' while trying to access the path
It is definitely accessing the path for some period of time because some tables were updated from it. Each time I run it, it fails after a period of time on a different random table.
It works fine and updates when I switch it back to my personal gateway.
I am connecting to a synced sharepoint folder so it is just a normal network file path. And the connection tests fine in the manage gateways/datasources.

Hi @Lukeal ,

Maybe you need to try the SharePoint Folder data source instead of Folder data source. There is a similar case you can refer to :https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/DataSource-Error-An-IO-error-occurred-while-trying-to-acces....

Did your data source use R script ? R scripts are supported for Personal Gateway but not Enterprise Gateway in Power BI currently. See :https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-personal-mode#frequently-asked-questions-f....

You may go through the troublesetting links to resolve the issue : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-onprem-tshoot,

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-troubleshooting-power-bi-personal-gateway.

Best Regards,

Amy

So, already tried the Sharepoint Online folder, and the errors caused by it in our implementation of Sharepoint is a problem and using a network file path to a sync of the Sharepoint folder set was the fix. So already using the workaround to a known issue with Sharepoint folders in my environment.

No, it is a very simple folder structure, populated by about 20 or so excel sheets with multiple tabs of data. There is a merge sync for each tab into a single record set. It works for a few tabs, then sends that IO error 71 at some random point. It feels like the query/update is just slow/long and that IO error 71 has to do with a timeout or something, but again, can't find anywhere that tells me what that error means to have a start point.

So, it might pull in 5 of the 10 tabs before it breaks. Run it again, and it works on 3 tabs (maybe even different ones).
It tells me on which table merge it breaks on and from table contents I can tell which ones got new data.

I download the .pbix from the service. Run it on desktop with a personal gateway. no problems.
