I have created a Power BI application to put on AppSource and having issues with using Parameters

My goal is to create a Power BI Application for AppSource where my customers can download the application in their PBI Service and see the reports with demo data.  I want them to have the ability to change the datasource to their specific site and see the data using the pre-built reports.  What is happening is when I try to change the datasource it is not updating.

I have done the following:

In Power BI Service I have created a Template App Workspace.  I have created my report in my desktop version with a parameter for the URL and published out to the workspace, created the application and used Release Management to put into testing.  In the settings of the app I have set the parameter to a test site and left the URL field unlocked to allow the user change the value, under authentication I have it set to Basic, and Access is set to Entire Organization.  

It is in the test lifecycle so it can only be used inside my organization.  When a user installs the application it has a banner at the top of the page where they can change to see the report with their data.  When I go to update my parameter it is keeping the URL to the demo data site and not updating to my site.  

Click on Connect your data and it is asking for the parameter, which is correct.

When the page to enter in my credentials comes up the old URL is still there, greyed out, and so it will not connect to my site.

What am I doing wrong or missing?
