Hi all,
We work with Power BI desktop to get data from our customers. We usually connect to data in local server of our customers, and then make all model out of it, not on premises.
Finally, when we want to share the reports with the customers in order to they use them, we share a link. The issue is that data is not always updated if Power Bi file is not on premises (on their pc's)
Is there any chance to updated data from Power BI service? I mean, if I publish on it and the customer would have a Power BI Gateway installed, it will be data always updated and available in this public link that I shared previously?
Any help? Thank you in advance.
Hi Raul
I am new to Power BI and I have the same problem. Did you find a solution? Even a "not automatic" solution would help. Thanks.
Hi @v-jiascu-msft , and thank you for comment.
I build the model on premises, but I share the link when finish and set scheduled refresh (not on premises). Then, does my customer have to install the gateway in his local network server? Later, I must configure it in order to refresh the data. Does it work?
Hi @RaulPBI,
The Gateway is a bridge between the Power BI Service and the on-premises data sources. If all the dataset can be updated, the customers don't need to install Gateways. When the dataset (report) is refreshed, the users who have access can get the latest data.
Best Regards,
Dale
Hi @RaulPBI,
You said there are gateways installed and links shared. What could be the issue? The report will be updated through the gateways. You can set the scheduled refresh.
Best Regards,
Dale
