How to track live connection queries that users run?

Due to regulatory compliance we need to track queries that our end users run using live connections to our SQL database or SSAS. For example we need to see if user has filtered report with specific values or if any of the users has filtered report using specific value.

Should we do this in SQL side or should we use on-prem gateway logs which do you guys prefer?

Hi @tondeli,

You can use native query option in Power BI Desktop to check undelying sql query.The actual SQL query for a set of steps can be obtained by selecting the last step in Query Editor, and choosing View Native Query from the context menu.

Alternatively, Power BI Desktop logs events during a given session to a trace file called FlightRecorderCurrent.trc. You can use SQL Server Profiler tool to open this file and check the corresponding SQL query. The trace file can be found in the AppData folder for the current user.

Does this work only with PBI Desktop? How about end user queries from PBI service?
