How to help users to access and work with the data from a SaaS API.

We are running a SaaS web app. The app has an ODATA rest API. A user has now asked us how to access his data with Power BI.

Accessing the data from my own web app account and working with it in the Power BI desktop app is no problem.

In what ways can I now help the users of the app to access their data?

The fastes way would be a tutorial with a few screenshots or a short video, but I would like to provide some further help.

Is it possible to provide a sample file? We do that alread for Power Pivot and it works quite well.

The users are from different companies. They all have different Power BI versions. Some pay, some use the free desktop version. Every user has it's own data set.

I do not need to share the data itself, we need to share 1) the information on how to access the data and 2) some cool examples how to work with the data.

We do not need to integrate Power BI in the app itself. The app already has reporting and a dashboard.

What are my options?

Thank you!

HI @Anonymous,

In my opinion, I think the simple way is use your data to create power bi template with parametrized connection string.

After these steps, you can share that template file to users to generate their own report based on their connection string/credentials.
