Hi,
I have some Excel workbooks in my PowerBI datasets that are pulled in by PowerBI from OneDrive.
The problem I have is that OneDrive only shows the filename, not where in OneDrive the file resides. There is no option from PowerBi to view the full path to the OneDrive file, or to click a link to go the corresponding OneDrive file or directory.
This is making it impossible to manage these files.
What happens if I rename or move the file in OneDrive? Does the link PowerBI remain (using some magic GUID link) or is it broken.
If I delete the file in OneDrive (because I can't see it is being used in PowerBI), is there a way in PowerBI to re-link it to a new version of the file, or is everthing then "broken", i.e. there is no way to refresh the data?
I can't see any documentation on the details of links to OneDrive files anywhere that provides any insights on how to manage these links long term.
Hi @powermike ,
Your demand is a good idea, while it is not supported to manage the OneDrive file URL dynamically in Power BI currently. You can post your new idea here https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas , to improve the Power BI.
It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
Best Regards,
Amy
