Hi Experts,
I have access for two Workspace and I have this situation :
Workspace A : I have a member access but I can see all reports and download any report like the “ Customed Metrics report”. About this report : I don’t have any Idea how it was created. I explored the visuals and data : It used the Microsoft dataset like any Microsoft Metrics reports : the modification in creating some new visuals or changing some dimensions in visuals and some calculated measures : but no changes allowed in data model.
(screenshot about this Customed Metrics Report in workspace A and how can we donload it)
Workspace B: (I have Administrator access in this workspace)
we have other reports related to other analysis for the company and we want to create a “customed metrics report”. So, I decided to create a simple “metrics report” and Microsoft allow us. I followed this links: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-modern-usage-metrics . I save the reports and after I want to download the report: Not allowed to do this.
(screenshot about the Microsoft Metrics Report created by myselft and not allowed to download it)
My questions:
1- How to download the dataset for metrics report to create reports on Power BI Desktop to create calculated measures, calculated columns, etc. Can we contact Microsoft Support for this need ?
2 - How to download the Microsoft metrics report from workspace B to modify this report in local and make upload for the modified report.

@ahmadov_10 You cannot download the report but you can connect live to the dataset. Create a new Power BI Desktop file. Use Get Data and then Power BI datasets. Login and search for "usage" for example. Connect to the dataset. You can now create your own measures and visualizations.

@Greg_Deckler : so helpful 🙂 , i'm connecting now to the metrics dataset . After creating my visuals, saving this report in Desktop and then publish it. How can I refresh every day this report to have updated data.
Best regards,
Ahmadov
@ahmadov_10 The beauty of live connections is that when the source dataset refreshes, your report is also refreshed. You will need to schedule the updates to occur on the original dataset in the Service if that is not already done but I think usage metrics are kept up-to-date automagically?
Hi @Greg_Deckler , nice , I confirm your post about Live connection : it seems we have auto refresh . I verify my data in the report --> updated.
Can we have possibility to load is dataset (metrics usage) into a database ? or adding some tables to this model (tables connected from other source) ?
Kind Regards,
Ahmadov
@ahmadov_10 You would use a composite model for that: A First Look at Gen 2 Composite Models with Live Power BI Datasets | Paul Turley's SQL Server BI Blo...
