How frequently does PowerBI refresh API calls as data sources?

I'm pulling survey data from Qualtrics using their APIs (v. 2.5 and 3.0) and want to avoid running into limits for the number of API calls. I'm newer to this kind of reporting (usually use static sources for my reports) and can't seem to find this in any documentation:

How frequently does PowerBI refresh data from API calls that are used as sources? Is it just when the report is refreshed? Or is it pretty much constantly? And is there a setting I can change to have it refresh at a prescribed rate?

I have similiar concern. I am also fetching data from Qualtrics API V3 using python. But refresh is not wokring in PowerBI service?

However it's working fine in PowerBI desktop. Could you suggest what went wrong here?

Hi there

It will pull from the API when you refresh the dataset, be that manually or via the On-Premise Data Gateway
