Guest user can't download .pbix

I'm pretty unfamiliar with Powerbi so its entirely possible I'm missing something obvious, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Guest user has access to workspace, set as contributor, has a pro license assigned, but download .pbix option is grayed out. Other workspaces with different guest users don't have this problem.

Any thoughts on why this one guest user in the one workspace can't download? The original reports were made by someone who is no longer with the company.

Thanks again

Hi @jginn365 ,

According to your question, a guest user with editing permission can download pbix file. As for the problem that cannot be downloaded, it may be caused by other reasons. For details, please refer to the restrictions given in the official documents.

The cause of the error can be specifically eliminated according to the conditions listed above.

Here is reference document link.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

Hi @jginn365

That is really interesting.

Could it be possible that because it was another user where the account has been deleted it no longer can be downloaded?

Or it could also be if the report was created in the PBI Service then the report cannot be downloaded.

I would suggest someone trying to download the PBIX and then send it to the guest user?

If that cannot be done, the only option is to re-create the report using Power BI Desktop and then you would have a copy of the PBIX.

Hi @jginn365

As far as I am aware guest users cannot download the PBIX files.

Hmm, that is strange.  I can for sure download .pbix via a guest user I made to test with.  I'm logged in as a test user on a different computer and can download the .pbix.  The guest user is a .club domain (see below) and the powerbi domain is a .com, so no chance there that I'm logged in under a different account.

The workspace that is being shared for my test is different than the one the actual guest user wants to download though because the "real" workspace has different permissions set on the data that my test guest user can't access.

Could it be a setting on the data itself blocking that download?  The "actual" guest user had the data permission setup by said employee who is no longer with the company, but the "actual" guest user can see and edit the reports.
