Governance, Possibility of enabling comments in the columns of the entities (DATAFLOWS)

Good Morning!!!

I would like to suggest to Microsoft the possibility of inserting comments/description in the columns of the entities that are created in (dataflows).
This will help a lot with the idea of making accesses more flexible for users, who often have doubts about what information is in that column of the entity.

@ibarrau
The suggestion is to exist (comments or descriptions) for the columns of the entities that are generated for DATAFLOW, all via script (Power Query / M script)...
...and not DATAMART or DATASET!!!
See in the print below, that it only exists (comments or descriptions) at the level of entities and not columns...

Hi apods1979. Like I said before. You can add descriptions to datamarts and datasets. If you or apoprio want to suggest an idea like adding comments for dataflows, then go ahead to the following site and do it:
https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/

That's the web address for new ideas 🙂

I hope that helps,

Hi there. I'm not sure what you mean with comments. You can add description to many items inside PowerBi. It's a property for the item. You can find it in Model View (relationship view). Once you click on one item (table, column, measure and rls rule), you can find several fields under properties. One of those is "Description". You can find more about it here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/business-applications-release-notes/april19/business-intelligence/p...

The option is available for datasets and datamarts. You can suggest that for dataflows at: https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/

I'm already using that with the "Document model" external tool from Data-Marc. The tool creates a report for understanding the model. You can check more about it here: https://blog.ladataweb.com.ar/post/680074717792796672/powerbi-documentar-detalles-del-modelo-con-un

I hope that helps,
