My business scenario is to let make a large diffusion (premium licence) of dashboards but to give some key users the right to create their own reports.
In the new app scenario, based on a app workspace, the dataset seems to be not visible from the users who consume the app.
Have you any idea to obtain a similar way like the (old and deprecated) content packs ?
Smething strange, I try the GitHub app and I manage to connect to the dataset... with Power BI Desktop !
If I could do the same with my app workspace...
Hi @paulpeton
The app packages all the dashboards, reports and datasets in the app workspace, as long as you grant the user permission to access this app, this user will be able to view all dashboards, reports and datasets in this app workspace. Here is the post about roles in app workspace.

Hi Cherie @v-cherch-msft ,
thank you for your answer about new app workspaces.
But I am confused by the fact to see a dataset only with an app sharing (without sharing the workspace).
In a most generallous way, what are the best practices to enable new reports on shared datasets ? According to the fact that content packs will be soon deprecated ?
Sincerily,
Paul
