@hellgoingon,

To troubleshoot this issue, you could get the detail error message from the location below.

On-premises data gateway service logs

C:\Users\PBIEgwService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\on-premises data gateway\Gateway*.log

Event Logs

The On-premises data gateway service event logs are present under Application and Services Logs.

Hi I am having the exact same issue since more than a year. When I newly installed the Gateway it worked very well for 3 month , then the Coud Server was restarted by IT and suddenly the gateway stopped working!

I didnt see any information on this issue so I requested re-imaging the server and reinstalled Power BI gateway, same happened again, it worked for couple of weeks, the server was restarted and again the Power BI gateway servcies failed to Start!

BTW, I tried reinstallin with all the latest updates but nothing worked (see screenshot from Feb update)
I am struggling with daily refresh. I am glad someone else had teh same issue. I am attachon screenshots and log files. Please please have a look and advsie a fix!

Hi,

Had a similar issue and I resolved it by installing the correct .Net Framework and changing a NT User to LocalUser.  I suspect the 1053 error could be any number of things.

This is where I started, you might want to do the same:  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/system-requirements
