We have redshift data that is not publicly accessible.
I am able to connect to it from Power BI Desktop when VPNd.
I set up a VM within the private network and Desktop on that machine can access redshift data too.
I set up a Data Gateway in Enterprise mode on that VM and it works once connected, but I frequently have trouble connecting.
I create a report in Desktop, publish it to a new workspace and get the message about the credentials not being set. I then go to dataset settings and turn "use a data gateway" on. At that point, I get "Not configured correctly" for the status. Details show an ODBC error "password authentication failed".
I currently have the same connection set up in another workspace and it is working fine. It seems that the problem might have to do with having multiple datasets that connect to the same redshift data source through the Gateway. I can't say this is definitely the issue, but it is either that or something sporadic.
In production, report writers will be using a single shared dataset in live connection mode, but we still need the ability to have additional datasets in separate workspaces for new app development, etc.
Has anyone had a similar issue or have troubleshooting ideas?
Thanks!
Hi @jprdynamicapps ,
There is a similar thread that maybe help you a little bit. And you can enable gateway trace log, repeat steps until error occurs to check the problem .
