Hi
I have a OnpRemise Gateway on a non domain Server, i have setup the Gateway and Mapped the user to a local user.
My question is can the gateway be configured for machines on a non domain?
As when i try to access the deployed report within PowerBI.com it says there is a data source error
GatewayPipelineErrorCode=DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_DataSourceAccessError
ErrorCode=-1056899072 --->
[1]Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.Diagnostics.GatewayPipelineWrapperException: Substituted: AdomdErrorResponseException:<pi>Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdErrorResponseException: The following system error occurred:Â The name provided is not a properly formed account name.
I have tried to map trhe power bi username to a servername\username as what i would assume is a local user.
Can the Gateway be used on a non domain machine?
Thanks
Dan
@jamesdanuk hello, is not possible!
You must configure your gateway inside the domain which you want to connect. see the gateway like a 'bridge' not a VPN.
Because, the service you run , only to validate your credentials into domain to refresh your dataset.
may i clearly?
I Reccomend you to take a few minutes to read this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/pt-br/power-bi/service-gateway-onprem
